DID YOU KNOW...

Railroads are the most capital intensive industry in the United States. The industry spends billions annually in maintaining and improving their infrastructure. From 1980 through 2003, Class I railroads invested more than $320 billion on infrastructure and equipment!

AQUATERIUM

I DON’T THINK THIS WORD IS IN THE DICTIONARY

The reason I build these is that I was getting tired of just a plain same old fish tank look.

These hybrid worlds are more suited for amphibians such as frogs, toads and newts, and small reptiles such as turtles or baby alligators.

Constructed from any size aquarium, using an under gravel filtration system. Made from all non-toxic and natural materials, construction of the land mass begins from the under gravel plate can be what ever you dream up, perhaps an island in the middle, or land around the perimeter of the tank. The aquarium is then filled partially with water so that the land mass will also be above the water as well as in it. The submersible power heads pump water to the highest point of the landmass in the aquarium where natural waterfalls will be created by the water returning to the pond. Other versions of an aquaterium can be mostly dry with a stream starting at the top and running through the aquarium to a small collection pond where it is then circulated to the starting point to create a moving stream. If you have any of these as I do, you will find yourself collecting cool rocks and stones, pieces of driftwood and live plants to add in. I also collect a lot of free critters from the swamps and local ponds like tadpoles that you can watch turn into frogs. Many species of minnows, and salamanders can be found as well.
